Mayim Bialik wrote and directed As They Made Us, a fine first feature. The great cast includes Dustin Hoffman, Candice Bergen, Simon Helberg and Dianna Agron. Despite a cliched script there is enough pathos in this highly dysfunctional family to be won over by the end.
