Diane Lane and Kevin Costner are excellent as a pair of weathered parents in search of their grandson in North Dakota in 1961. The explosive melodrama is helped by Leslie Manville’s gorgeously over the top evil controlling matriarch. And if you throw in horse and people whispering, you’ll have a compelling viewing experience.

I really liked this film. Diane Lane was wonderful and all acting good. The horse, yes, wonderful. Sad, true and wild! Leslie’s makeup was pretty extreme, but fun. Very poignant in the end. Debbie
