The gripping interplay between Vanessa Kirby, Shia Le Beouf, and Ellen Burstyn keeps this depressing film from descending into boredom. Each actor is at the top of the heap with Ellen Burstyn getting the slight edge because her Oscar five-minute monologues that really deserves an award. The harrowing but slow and meticulous giving birth first thirty minutes, sets the stage for the lowkey melodrama that will burst through you guts long after the finale.
