Emma Donoghue’s novel was written to remember the 100 year annivesairy of The Spanish Flu of 1918. Then Covid happened and the novel took on mythic frightening parallels. This is a stunning and horrifying account of the 1918 pandemic which eerily matches what we are going through today. Brilliant.
