Christian Bale fully inhabits Dick Cheney with a brilliant relish. Amy Adams takes the role of his wife to soaring heights. The film exhausts and sputters at two hours and ten minutes (do not leave until the credits finish). Like “The Big Short”, the director Adam McKay takes us on a whirlwind tour. I wished he toned down the film. We are already bombarded with outlandish political events on a daily basis. Vice doesn’t do us any favors by reminding us that we’ve been through corruption before and survived. But the film entertains and the laughs are abundant.
