Street Symphony presented an all-female mariachi ensemble called “Las Colibri” or “Hummingbirds”. The glorious selections were thrilling. I went nuts hearing their rendition of Guantanamera and La Bamba. The group is championing the all-string instrumentation of the early 20^th Century mariachi tradition with stunning results. The Guitarron (Bass), Guitar, Biheula (Soprano Guitar) and Violins combine together with stupendous vocals to a giddy frame of mind. Your body will want to laugh, cry, sing and dance as you witness this empowered group.
