The new Ariana Grande CD begins with Raindrops in Angels gloriously displaying her clear as a bell vocalizing. The “Blazed” track with Pharrell Williams hooks us into a refreshing minimalist arrangement. We follow with “The Light is Coming” to get our dose of Nicki Mina. A simple drum beat swings us. “REM” beautifully borders on ballad territory with a sweet coda ending. Her recent hit single “God is A Woman” captures her signature whaling with a delicate phrasing we don’t expect from her. Skip ahead to her classic “No Tears Left to Cry”.
