This may be sacrilegious but this must be one of Denzell’s finest performance. His authority and magnitude bordered on Shakespearean.  His angel of vengeance challenged our senses. We were able to forgive the brutal violence due to director Antoine Fuqua’s intelligent and sympathetic handling of the material. But Denzell is to blame for this blistering entertaining powerhouse film. Miles Whittaker from Moonlight shines as an artistic student resident in Denzell’s apartment complex. The magnificently inventive chase set pieces bubble with energy culminating with a twenty-minute hurricane sequence.
