Blindspotting

It took me almost an hour to calm down after seeing this film. The crumbling violence is other worldly. This Oakland story takes racism and gentrification through the lives of friends black Colin (played by Daveed Diggs from Hamilton) and white Miles (Rafael Casal).  Directed by Carlos Lopez Estrada with energy and eloquence, the film relentlessly captures police violence as we’ve never seen before. When Colin witnesses a police shooting his reaction takes the film to a surreal realm. The script written by Daveed and Casal who are real friends is a brilliant mixture of hip hop and rap poetry that follows the parameters of great drama. A clear-cut hook, climax and resolution.  I was floored.
