These Laemmle Live concerts are consistently magnificent. The Orchestra Santa Monica performed Jewish Sketches #1 op. 12 (1909). The composer Alexander Krein was a leading modernist in the Soviet Union between 1920-1930. The quintet for clarinet that they played had hints of Klezmer music and Fiddler on the Roof. The Brahms Clarinet Quintet in B minor Op. 115 (1891) was gorgeous. Stunningly modulated with violins, viola, cello and clarinet accumulating melodies and atmosphere that treat your senses to the moon.
