Adrift is a love story played with divine charisma by Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin. They generate such goodwill that this true story about survival in the Pacific Ocean for months feels semi-refreshing. There is a well-earned twist that should satisfy most viewers. Using effective flashbacks prevents the film from being a predictable rescue film. The special effects creating the shipwreck at sea are excellent. Sound, score and cinematography all add to making this an above average film.
