Book Club is a bit of a slog. The choice of Fifty Shades of Grey as their book selection is not much of a plot. The refreshment of seeing Fonda, Bergen, Keaton and Steenburgen wears thin. I must admit that I shed a few tears towards the end. The combination of Craig T. Nelson (who I loved in Parenthood) and the song “I would do anything for love” by Meatloaf seemed to tickle my tear ducts. Laughs were forced. This may play better on a non-movie theater format.
