This is a brilliant viscously violent film with a gut stabbing performance by Joaquin Phoenix. Lynne Ramsay directs with a piercing flare that smashes against your eyes for 90 minutes. The sound design is impeccable and combined with Jonny Greenwood’s chilling score makes for an out of body experience. You may not understand what is going on but you will feel every morsel of emotion. Attend at your own risk.
