I never thought I would be gushing with tears during a horror film. This genre bending flic takes the simplest story of a family that can’t utter a sound or they will be decimated by a monster, and bleeds the audience with gasps, screams and tears. The deaf actress Millicent Simmonds from Wonderstruck plays the daughter in the film brilliantly. Sound design and music are exemplary. Cinematography and editing keep you on a sliver of sanity edge of your seat. Director John Krasinski  nails the suspense and family dynamics like a master. Top of the heap for 2018!
