There is one  reason to see this new release and that is the performance by Mary J. Blige. Her transitioning from an extraordinary R&B singer to this brilliant acting performance is mind boggling! The only negative to this otherwise excellent film relates to the frequent narration. Film is a visual medium and you shouldn’t need narration to accent the story.
